Advertisements
Advertising companies suck! Why would you even think to use rape to sell designer clothing? Why do all beer ads exploit women's bodies? If you see an advertisement that pisses you off, write to the company and stop giving them your money!
Yes yes yes! I agree with you. Also, that "innocence is sexy" one was particularly creepy.
This post reminded me of something sort of related to your topic. I don't know how familiar you are with Terry Richardson. He's a photographer with a lot of clout in the fashion industry. Anyway, he's known for highly sexual, "is she 18 or isn't she?" photos, and has recently come under fire for allegations of sexual harassment, use of minors in his shoots, coercing his models into performing sex acts with/on/for him, and a lot of other really bad stuff. Apparently he's really good at blackballing anyone who speaks out against him. It's a story that I've been following, and definitely represents a lot of the problems with the kinds of ads that you posted. Ugh.
No I haven't heard on him. I don't have TV or read any magazines/newspapers that have advertisements so I haven't seen anything recent. I'll look it him up though! Thanks!
